2nd day: Marrakech

After breakfast, we head to Medina of Marrakech for a guided tour, to discover all the beautiful attractions. The tour starts at 9h30 am and it includes these visits:  Dar El Bacha Museum. This palace was once the home of Pacha Thami El Glaoui, also known as the Lord of the Atlas, who ruled over Marrakech from 1912 to 1956. The palace has only recently opened to the public, and the colourful, geometric zellij tilework, painted ceilings and carved cedarwood is some of the finest on display in the city. Try to not miss the impressive hammam just off the central courtyard and the orange blossoms in springtime. The walk continues through the medina towards Les Jardins secret, optional lunch in a local restaurant in the attractive medina district, an old town quarter which is packed with market stalls and overlooks Djemaa El Fna square. This whole area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site and it positively buzzes, with its colorful activities which includes remarkable street performers, countless orange juice stalls, mesmerizing snake charmers and water sellers in colorful costumes carrying traditional Moroccan goat leather water-bags and brass cups. At dusk each day the whole scene transforms into a nocturnal food market where a diverse array of traditional produce is displayed and prepared. Night at the Riad/ hotel.

Meal Plan: Breakfast.

3rd day: Marrakech – Casablanca

Your driver will pick you up at your accommodation. After about three hours of driving we will reach the modern city of Casablanca. It is the largest metropolitan city in the Maghreb that is characterized by elegant buildings, great avenues and special architectural arts. We will start our tour with a guided walk through the impressive Hassan II Mosque, where you have time as well to stroll around the outside area. The Hassan II Mosque is the world’s third-largest mosque, built to commemorate the former king’s 60th birthday. It rises above the ocean on an outcrop northwest of the medina, a vast building that holds a total of more than 100,000 worshippers. Continue on a short drive through the residential areas of Casablanca to the city center to see the Mohamed V Square, the Habous quarter, the Central Market and The Royal Palace (from the outside). Dinner & overnight in a Hotel.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & dinner.

4th day: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fes

After breakfast, you’ll head out on a lengthy drive (245km) from Casablanca to Fes. Our first stop is Rabat. The modern capital of Morocco features some of Morocco’s oldest monuments. Visit the extraordinary Mausoleum complex of King Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower and take a stroll around Kasbah Oudaya before heading to nearby Meknes. The 17th century capital of Moulay Ismail features his Mausoleum, Bab el-Mansour (One of the nicest gates in Morocco) Place el Hdime, stables Bab el Khemis, the King Palace (from the outside) and the Agudal Basin. After a lunch at leisure we continue our day towards Volubilis where a local guide will take you for an interesting visit through the ancient Roman city. The last part of our day will take you through an amazing landscape, driving past olive plantations towards the city of Fez. Dinner & overnight in a hotel.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & dinner.

5th day: Fez

Enjoy a full day’s sightseeing in Fes, the most authentic of Morocco’s Imperial Cities. A city which appears stuck in time. After breakfast your guide for today will take you to the King Palace (outside) for a photo opportunity followed by a drive through the famous Mellah (Jewish Quarter). Stop for an amazing view over the old city (Fez el Bali) at Borj Sud. Enjoy an interesting visit at one of the biggest potteries followed by the 14th century religious school (Medersa) of Bou Inanina and Attarine. After lunch you will continue towards the fountain at Place Nejjarine. Visit the souks within the charming medina, its tanneries, dyers, leather workers and other crafts quarters. Dinner & overnight in a hotel.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & dinner.

6th day: Fez – Beni Mellal – Ouzoud

This morning you will enjoy a wonderful drive up to the small town of Ifrane (1650m above sea level), also called “The Switzerland of Morocco”. Wide avenues, parks, European-style villas – here you will discover a little-known side of North Africa. On the Azrou road to the south-east we might have the chance to spot the local monkeys. Drive past a rocky landscape which reminds many people of lunar craters. Our journey will take us via Khénifra towards Beni Mellal past a very green landscape full of fruit and vegetable plantations. At the end of the day we will continue at ouzoud when you spend the night. Dinner and overnight in a Kasbah or Riad.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & dinner.

7th day: Ouzoud  Demnate  Skoura

After breakfast, we start our journey by visiting the popular waterfall of Ouzoud. The surrounding landscape is made up of idyllic green valleys, and head to Skoura, on the way you can visit Imi-n-Ifri, a natural bridge. A stone structure created by the water that flows underneath, contemplates the slow but persistent force of nature in the formation of this fully functional limestone bridge, used for hundreds of years. On both sides of the “bridge” a wild landscape both opens up and closes in.  At the very bottom of the gap, you will feel like the walls are closing in on you. This is not so far from the truth, as the formations here have been shaped by the collapse of an underground cave system. The road continues to Skoura via the High Atlas Mountains. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Meal Plan: Breakfast & dinner.

8th day: Skoura  Ouarzazate  Ait ben Haddou  Agadir

This day, you leave Skoura and head to Ait Ben Haddou via Ouarzazate, where you can visit the Kasbah of Taourirte and the studio of the cinema. Afterwards you will reach and visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (UNESCO world heritage site). In the afternoon, you will reach the end of the trip and drop you at your hotel in Agadir.
