1st day: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Draa valley – Zagora
Transfer from Marrakech by 4×4 vehicle with driver-guide to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou. Traverse the High Atlas Mountains via the highest main road pass in Morocco – Tichka pass(at 2260m), offering some exhilarating driving via lush valleys and traditional Berber villages. Take the route to Telouet (for the Kasbah Glaoui) and then follow the course of the beautiful Ounila Valley, in the mountain foothills, to reach Ait Ben Haddou. It is is essentially a living museum, comprising a ksar and has been used as the backdrop in many international movies. The drive continues via Ouarzazate and the Draa valley to reach Zagora. Night with dinner in a Riad.
2nd day: Zagora – Tamegroute – M’hamid – Erg Lihoudi Desert
After a nice breakfast, we head to Tamegroute village to visit the famous Koran Library and subterranean Kasbah and the manufacture of the famous green glaze pottery. The road continues towards M’hamid, the “doorway to the Sahara desert” for lunch. In the afternoon, you will ride camels for about one hour and half to reach the dunes of Erg Lihoudi, then enjoy the overnight in a desert camp with a big dinner under a star-filled sky. Night in a nomad tent well-equipped.
3rd day: Erg Lihoudi Desert – M’hamid – Erg Chegaga dunes
After a picturesque sunrise upon Erg Lihoudi dunes and breakfast, you will ride a camel back to M’hamid. Relax in the Kasbah hotel by the swimming pool. After lunch, drive off-road for two hours to reach the overnight camp at the foot of the tall dunes before sunset. Take a camel ride. Overnight in the luxury desert camp with hot showers, private shower facilities and king size bed.
