Morocco was one of the leadest African countries to perfectly deal with the health world crisis. The health situation in Morocco has always been stable and under control with very low critical cases. Thanks to the government that led a well planned strategy to stop spreading the virus and started its vaccination campaign at the end of January and succeeded in vaccinating more than 5 millions of its citizens. What are the sanitary measurements to follow while you’re in Morocco ?

Morocco recommends to its citizens and visitors to respect all the health measurements suggested by the World Health Organization (WHO) for everyone’s health and safety. Therefore it’s necessary to:
✓ Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or apply a sanitizer.
✓ Cough or sneeze on your elbow or a single-use tissue and dispose of it in a garbage can.
✓ Maintain at least a distance of 1.5m between yourself and others.
✓ Always wear a mask especially in closed places
✓ Avoid any physical contact with others.
✓ The Moroccan law applies a fine of 300 MAD for those who refuse to wear a mask.

In case of contamination there are many public and private hospital centers that have been deployed to take care of infected citizens as well as tourists and remain at the service of everyone.

It is advisable to download Wiqaytna (our safety) an application put online by the Moroccan Ministry of Health to notify the person who’s in exposure to the Covid-19.

Touristy places, cafés and restaurants

Most of the private tourist attractions are open however there are some public ones that remain closed (Museums, cinemas, theatres)  till a further notice from the government. The astonishing gardens of Marrakech are open; Majorelle garden, the secret garden as well as Anima. Restaurants and cafés all over Morocco are open, however to get access to them there are some sanitary measurements to follow: temperature check and a sanitizer is in your disposal in the entrance, you must always wear a mask in the entrance and everytime you want to leave your table. Each table is limited to four people maximum with respect to the safety distance. The curfew starts from 11:00pm till 04h30 am.

Hotels, resorts, guest houses and riads

Hotels are open in Morocco and a booking is mandatory in order to enter any classified touristic establishment. Many safety measures were taken to ensure the travelers and the staff safety, one of them is that travelers have to show the Welcome Safely certification in order to enter any classified hotel. The wearing of a mask is mandatory in all common areas like receptions, restaurants and boutiques. Your temperature is checked at every entrance and you will be asked to disinfect your hands.

Beaches in Morocco

Beaches are open during their normal operating hours. Almost every activity is permitted, including sunbathing, biking, fishing and beach volleyball. Larger gatherings are not allowed. Even though it’s the beach, wear a mask when you’re around other people, especially if it’s crowded, and make sure to stay at least 6 feet away from people who aren’t from your household. We do ask that you plan to limit your time at the beach so others can enjoy the beach without creating crowds. Please avoid crowded areas or crowding around others at the beach. Beaches that become too crowded may be forced to close.

Transportation

All the means of transport are available in Morocco, cabs, buses, trains, TGV, rental cars and private cars. Always wear a mask in public transportation and keep a distance from the other passengers and respect the displayed sanitary measurements.
